At Manhattan's oldest house, families explore how candles and lanterns lit homes before electricity, then make a handheld paper lantern of their own. Choose a traditional cone shape or a lantern modeled on the Morris-Jumel Mansion, decorate it with tissue paper and add a battery tea light to watch it glow. Free, no registration, materials provided while supplies last.
