Alexandria lights its holiday tree in a new location this year, Waterfront Park, because Market Square is closed for the City Hall renovation. The mayor and holiday guests lead the ceremony, Santa arrives before the lighting at about 6:40 pm, and music and family visits with Santa follow until 8 pm. Admission is free and the event runs rain or shine.
