Connect ChatGPT
ChatGPT cannot store an API key, so it must not have one. It connects to wknd and signs in as you. Never paste a key into ChatGPT.

- Add a custom MCP server. Today you select the plus button on that page, then "Add custom MCP server".
- Enter the name wknd and a short description, such as "Local events".
- Paste the MCP server URL into the server URL field, which is under "Connection" today: https://wknd.app/mcp
- Choose OAuth as the authentication. Read the risk warning, then accept it. Today the button is "I understand and want to continue".
- Create the plugin. Today the button is "Create as a plugin". If ChatGPT asks you to install the plugin, install it.
- When ChatGPT opens wknd.app, sign in with your email. Check the account the page shows, then select Allow.
- Start a new chat, type @, and select wknd.
Your ChatGPT plan or workspace must allow custom MCP servers. If ChatGPT does not show the option in step 2, yours does not allow it.
What the connection can do
The connection can read events and places, follow and save for your account, and make a list. It can post events to a list that your account keeps. If your account owns an area, it can also post and update events and places in the public lists of that area, suggest sites, and report site checks. It cannot delete an event, a place, or a list. It cannot post to a list that another account keeps, or to an area that you do not own.

By default, ChatGPT asks you to approve each write. We have not confirmed that a ChatGPT scheduled task can use the connection. If yours cannot, ask ChatGPT each week.
